Joe Thompson was more than a footballer. He was strength in adversity. Faith in uncertainty and Light in dark places for so many. After battling cancer three times, Joe showed the world what resilience truly meant.
In April 2025, Joe passed away from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. But his story did not end… It multiplied.
Through his family. Through his children. Through every person he inspired. Through you.
This walk is not about loss. It is about legacy.

We exist to support people through life’s toughest challenges, not just illness, but loss, grief, change and hardship offering pathways from surviving to thriving. Through heart-led, life transforming programmes we aim to:
Offer mentorship and community support that helps people rediscover purpose
Provide access to wellness, emotional strength building and self-awareness programmes
Support families navigating serious illness, bereavement and major life transitions
Deliver youth empowerment opportunities, like football scholarships & coaching
Education support for young people from underprivileged backgrounds

THE FULL JOURNEY
The route
From Rochdale where Joe finished his playing career, to Manchester United where the dream first began.
Through the communities that stood beside him. Across the path that shaped his life.
This isn’t just a route. It’s a full circle story told in miles.
On the morning of the walk for those who wish to park near the finish. The coach will depart from Hotel Football, Manchester United at 10:00am, transporting participants to the starting point at Rochdale FC.
This allows you to complete the walk without needing to return to collect your vehicle at the end of the day.
An additional charge of £6 will apply, just select the ticket type at checkout.
